New Evening Song Board Position

URGENT - POSITION NEEDS TO BE FILLED IMMEDIATELY

Vice President Fundraising (Executive Member - reports to President)

·        Corporate sponsorship recruiting

·        Fundraising promotion

·        Tax issues

·        Grants

·        Coordinate efforts with Publicity committee

·        Product and Member Gift Distribution

The Evening Song Board voted and passed by a majority vote to change the Fundraising Chairman to the Executive Board position of Vice President Fundraising.  Evening Song has many plans for our 2009 - 2010 performance season and beyond, which includes eight performances for our Christmas season, a ticketed concert in the spring, a patron member appreciation reception, a tour in San Diego Summer of 2010, yearly CD recordings of our work and a professional recording of David Featherstone’s “Testament” in the next two years.

The conception of an Annual Fund has been a long time coming with the greater number of opportunities that have been presented to Evening Song.  Yearly budgets have been put in place to help us pay for the necessities to execute our many performances and recordings.

Evening Song needs help from a volunteer that may be called and have the time to help us meet our budget each year and to fill our Annual Fund so that Evening Song can carry out it’s mission “To Uplift Through the Spirit and the Art of Excellent Choral Music.”

Some of the duties would include heading a committee in executing the Annual Fund Drive, help organize the Patron member appreciation reception, help the Grant writers collect information for our grant applications and seek sponsorships and donations from outside sources.

This Position needs to be filled immediately.  If you feel a call or would like to help and have the time and willingness to lead in this VERY important committee, please contact me.  I will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you all for your support in Evening Song

Evening Song Audition Announcement

Evening Song, an auditioned choir from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, welcomes all singers, professional and amateur, who share a love of inspirational music and a passion for the choral arts.  We are preparing for its 2009 – 2010 performance season and have need of soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass voices.

AUDITIONS

Auditions are scheduled by appointment and will be held on Thursday, August 20 and Thursday, August 27, 2009.  Evening Song’s artistic director will conduct the audition, which will last approximately 15 minutes. Applicants will be evaluated based on the following:

♫ A good choral voice, not necessarily a solo voice

♫ An ability to blend with other voices

♫ Intonation, rhythm, and general musicianship

REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES

Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at 9509 Midway Road, Dallas, Texas (Near Midway & Northwest Highway). Child care will be available.

Evening Song requires two commitments from Members;

To learn notes outside of rehearsal and therefore come prepared to rehearsals

To be present for every rehearsal and scheduled performance.

Evening Song has two Performance Seasons annually: Christmas (September 3 through December 13, 2009) and Spring (January 14 through April 17, 2010).  Each season consists of 3 to 6 performances.  Additionally, this spring season we will be touring in the San Diego area from June 9 to June 16, 2010.

For the most fun you’ll ever have singing music, to enjoy a professional choral setting, and to make new friends in music, consider auditioning for Evening Song!

To schedule an audition, contact Deborah Cannon at (972) 606-2517

Final Reminder! Evening Song will be performing Testament

Evening Song wants to remind you that we will be performing Testament, an original work by Dave Featherstone.  Friday, June 13th, will be the last chance to purchase your tickets online.  Tickets will also be available to purchase at the door with cash or check.  Buy your tickets now at www.eveningsong.com!

Testament is an extensive musical composition for choir and orchestra that is categorized as an oratorio.  In the scope and pattern of Handel’s Messiah, the libretto is drawn from both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. A multi-year project, it was recently completed by David Featherstone, Evening Song Artistic Director, with consultation by the eminent composer and teacher, Robert Xavier Rodriguez, composer-in-residence for the Dallas Symphony and professor of music at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Testament is a witness to the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ.  Beginning with the war in the heavens and the first earthly conflicts of good and evil, David Featherstone has created a story through the “testaments” of the prophets and of central figures such as John the Baptist and Mary, Jesus’ mother.  It proclaims the Passion of Christ and his ultimate triumph over death through the testament of the Apostle Paul.

The program will feature the following acclaimed soloists:

Laura Bowden – Alto

David Grogan – Baritone/Bass

Brenda Potter – Soprano

Erick Reich – Tenor

Christopher Luebke-Brown
– Boy Soprano
